One accessory to another

Haven't been feeling up to blogging lately.   I did get rid of the IV antibiotics (May 8th) finally and felt pretty good until I over did it the following week.  Ended up sick on the long weekend, low grade fever, vomiting, dizziness and my diagnosis is that along with over doing I may have a UTI or the on set of diabetes cause my sugars seem to be out of wack.  (I have been using Clark's tester).  I go to the family doc tomorrow Thursday (May 20th) so far have managed to hold off on a emerg. visit. :)  Also was able to go and get my new accessory yesterday.
PICC Line
This is for administering the Chemo drugs and others if needed and not having to be poked every time.

The chemo this time is Taxotere/Cyclophosphamide - TC for short.
4 cycles every 3 weeks.  Each cycle will take 3-3.5 hours!!  Also have to take a steroid called Dexamethasone (Decadron) which to counteract some side effects of the Taxotere.  This drug if I am not mistaken was one that I stopped taking during the first chemo because it made me soooo jittery.  Was aloud to then because it was only being used in case of nausea that time.  This time it is being used to avoid swelling up like the good year blimp and ending up in hospital!!!  So jitteriness can be avoided by taking Lorazapam another drug!!!!!!!!!! Oh boy  it's gonna be along 12 weeks.

Accessories from the hospital

Being home is good!  In my last blog I forgot to mention that I came home with an accessory. Went to the doctor yesterday May4th  hoping to have it removed but do to fever and shortness of breath overnight I have it for another 3 days!

Portable IV,  appreciative to be home but having to take my accessory with me every where I go can be a pain.  More so just remember to grab it before walking somewhere. :)

Home Again Home Again!

God has been teaching me the following through all this but I am finding a bit difficult just to Be Still!

Well I am home once again after spending a week in the hospital due to a infection.  I have been on antibiotics since Saturday April 25th and came to realize 99% of my pain was due to the infection.

When I wasn't resting I did have a beautiful window view.

and the occasional treat too!
Another "bonus" of this visit was being able to finally "wash" my hair after 2 weeks it really really really needed it!

Surgery Done

So glad to be home!
I have been home resting since Saturday.  I am sore, bruised, swollen and the pain for the most part is tolerable.   Surgery went well and according to the doctors everything is healing well.  I tried sleeping in my bed the first night home but could not sleep being so flat.  So slept in the recliner last night and slept pretty good considering.
Church family has been very supportive and helpful.   Thank you so much.

Finally

Well after much, much, much waiting I am finally having my surgery!  Tuesday April 14th 8:30 am.  Now that it has been scheduled I am a little nervous.  Double mastectomy with reconstruction 5 hours and 4-5 day stay in hospital.  I will be glad when it is over and I am home.  Everyday I have had many emotions and have cried out to God each day more than once but he has spoken to me each and every day through His word, through songs or even quotes on Facebook.

You`ll get through this it.
It won`t be painless.
It won`t be quick.
But God will use this mess for good.
Don`t be foolish or naive.
But don`t despair either.
With God`s help, you`ll get through this.

Went through this study and it helped me relearn that God created us to glorify Him and even though we mess up if we come to Him in repentance of our mistakes He will forgive us and use it for His good.  Only one thing has been teaching me in the last few weeks.

Finally

Finally heard from the doctor.  Tests show no other concerns.  So now waiting for her to discuss with another doctor what the different options are and what would be the BEST way to go for best results.

Decisions Decisions Decisions!

1.  Mastectomy on left side only and chemo to follow.
2.  Above with reconstruction at a later date when all looks clear.
3.  Mastectomy of both sides and chemo to follow.  Bigger surgery and a little more difficult for the doctor to do reconstruction but possible.
4.  Mastectomy both sides and chemo to follow.  No reconstruction.  Would I be happy??

Please pray for wisdom and peace and contentment with whatever decision is made!   Patience to wait for treatment to start.  Wisdom for work.
